Thornton, CO is the largest city in Adams County, a north-metro suburb that spread quickly along the I-25 corridor above Denver. Rehabilitation clinics and diagnostic labs make up a good share of the allied workload, scattered through the newer developments off 104th and 120th Avenues. I-25 runs south about ten miles to downtown Denver, with 120th heading west toward Westminster and Broomfield. Since 2020 the RTD N Line commuter rail has linked Thornton stations to Union Station downtown, which gives travelers a way around the interstate's rush-hour crawl. Housing skews newer and a little cheaper than the close-in suburbs. Winters bring cold and periodic snow at this elevation, worth factoring into a north-metro commute.
