What certifications are required for this ER travel nurse position?
Most travel ER jobs require Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), with Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) often needed if pediatric patients are involved. How much ER experience do I need for this travel assignment?
Most travel ER jobs look for at least 2 years of recent emergency department experience and confidence caring for patients with a wide range of needs and acuity levels. Depending on the facility, experience with triage, trauma, pediatric patients, or high-volume emergency departments may also be preferred. Click “I’m Interested” to connect with a recruiter about assignment-specific requirements.
Is an Illinois license needed for this travel assignment?
Yes—unless you already hold an active Illinois RN license. Illinois is not part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, so multistate authority issued elsewhere doesn’t apply. Apply for licensure by endorsement through IDFPR; eligible applicants can request a temporary endorsement permit to begin working while the permanent application is pending. Our Illinois Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

The only Level I adult and pediatric trauma center for its 26-county mid-Illinois region, OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center is a 600-plus-bed tertiary teaching hospital.
How do Magnet status and a teaching affiliation shape the RN environment at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center?
Magnet recognition since 2004 pairs with a University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria teaching affiliation, bringing the specialists and protocols of an academic referral center.
What specialty programs does OSF Saint Francis offer travel nurses?
The OSF Cardiovascular Institute, the Illinois Neurological Institute, and the Children's Hospital of Illinois sit on campus, with a Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center and NICU.

Explore Peoria, IL

Along the Illinois River, Peoria, IL serves as a referral hub for much of the middle of the state. OSF Saint Francis Medical Center is the regional anchor, and its critical-care and inpatient units lean on travel nurses to hold coverage. Many clinicians base in East Peoria or Morton, both a quick drive from the main campuses, where parking is rarely the headache it is in bigger metros. Because Peoria pulls patients from a wide rural catchment, demand holds through the year rather than swinging with the seasons. The RiverFront Trail and the Peoria Riverfront Museum sit nearby for a low-key day off. For a mid-size market, that regional-referral role is what keeps the work coming.
