Long known as the Town of Seven Railroads, Palmer, MA is a small Hampden County city on the Quaboag River in central-western Massachusetts. Diagnostic labs and rehab centers are where much of the local allied demand lands in this community of about twelve thousand, the least populous city in the state. Route 20 and Route 32 cross downtown, and an interchange with the Massachusetts Turnpike makes Palmer a gateway into western Massachusetts. Springfield is roughly twenty minutes west for larger hospitals and an airport down toward Hartford, with Worcester a longer drive east. The town spreads across four old mill villages along the Quaboag, Ware, and Swift rivers. Its rail heritage still shows in the landmark Union Station downtown.
