What certifications are required for travel RRT jobs?

Travel RRT jobs generally require an active NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist credential, BLS, and the respiratory care license required by the assignment state.

Can I use the Respiratory Care Interstate Compact for a travel assignment?

Not yet. As of August 2026, the compact has reached its activation threshold and entered implementation, but applications are not open, and no state is issuing practice privileges.

Explore Portland, OR

Forest Park trailheads and the International Rose Test Garden sit a short MAX ride from most of Portland's compact neighborhoods, so getting between housing and assignment sites rarely means a long drive. The light rail links those districts without much reliance on a car. Imaging centers and occupational-therapy clinics handle the allied work across the city and out toward Beaverton and Gresham, where a good share of the suburban demand sits. Bike-friendly streets, neighborhood markets, and the city's well-known food carts keep everyday errands simple after a shift. Clinicians tend to like how quickly they can trade a work site for green space, an easy reset that's part of the appeal of a Portland assignment.
