Unlike the rainy west side of the state, Yakima, WA sits east of the Cascades in a dry, sunny valley that sees some three hundred clear days a year. CT, MRI, and therapy work draws on a metro of more than a quarter-million, with the city the commercial center of an agricultural valley that grows the bulk of the nation's hops along with apples and wine grapes. I-82 is the principal route, joined by US-12 from the Cascades and US-97, with the Tri-Cities about eighty miles southeast and the Yakama Nation reservation just south. Over the Cascades, Seattle is roughly two and a half hours west on I-82 and I-90 for bigger needs.
