What to Expect

CVOR Techs assist in cardiovascular surgeries, such as open-heart procedures, valve repairs, and bypasses. Certifications

CVOR Technologists typically require the following certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Education

CVOR Techs must complete an accredited surgical technology program, usually resulting in a certificate or associate degree. After graduation, most pursue certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Experience in cardiovascular surgery is typically required for CVOR-specific roles.
