What certifications are required for this ICU travel nurse position?
Every ICU travel nurse position will require Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). If you’re heading to a neuro or stroke unit, you’ll also need NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Certifications like CCRN and PALS can be required in specialized units—and they’re always great to have to open up more opportunities. What kind of critical care experience is preferred for travel ICU jobs?
Facilities generally look for at least 2 years of recent critical care experience and confidence caring for complex or unstable patients. Experience with ventilators, titratable medications, hemodynamic monitoring, and the specific ICU population may be requested depending on the assignment. Click “I’m Interested” to connect with a recruiter about assignment-specific requirements.
Will my multistate nursing license cover this California travel assignment?
No—California is not a Nurse Licensure Compact state, so a multistate license from another state doesn’t authorize practice here; you’ll need an active California RN license. Apply for licensure by endorsement through the California Board of Registered Nursing and plan ahead—eligible endorsement applicants may also apply for a temporary license while the permanent application is pending. Our California Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Explore Upland, CA
Beneath the San Gabriel foothills in the Inland Empire's western corner, Upland, CA keeps a suburb's historic downtown and tree-lined avenues recall its citrus-colony origins. Travel nurses base here for contracts across the surrounding hospital corridor. Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, and Pomona all sit within a fifteen-minute radius, and demand across the corridor leans toward emergency and telemetry assignments. Housing costs far less than coastal Los Angeles, by a margin wide enough to notice every month, while the metro stays reachable. Cable Airport gives the town an aviation quirk. The privately owned public-use field hosts a weekend pancake breakfast with a devoted local following. The foothill trails climb quickly toward mountains, and Ontario's airport ten minutes south simplifies contract transitions.
At Advantis Medical Staffing, we take great pride in our commitment to caring for travel nurses. We are dedicated to connecting nurses with the best travel nursing jobs nationwide, while providing exceptional service that fosters a trusted partnership for life. Our mission is to deliver the “Gold Standard” in service—not only by securing your first assignment but by advocating for your long-term career goals and well-being.
