With the holidays approaching, Texas is quickly being decorated with garlands, holly, and lights. For families, friends, and travel nurses on assignment, we have collected a list of merry events to celebrate Christmas in Dallas. Enjoy the festive cheer, make new friends, and most importantly, stay safe!
November 20, 2021 – January 2, 2022
Being one of the most well-known theme parks in America, it’s no surprise that Six Flags is spreading the holiday cheer. For a $29.99 day pass, you can experience plenty of shows, festive treats, a themed Holiday Express train ride, and more. If theme park rides aren’t your thing, you can always take a walk around and enjoy the holiday lights in the Dallas theme park. Six Flag’s Holiday in the Park has set up singing and animated Christmas trees, a Winter Wonderland, holiday-colored fountains, Candy Cane Lane, and many illuminated Christmas trees. It’s the perfect place for travel nurses and friends to take photos to send to family!
November 12, 2021 – January 2, 2022
Gaylord Texan is a hotel and convention center with plenty of space to fill with Christmas lights in Dallas and dozens of activities. If you’re travel nursing in pairs, bring your buddy! Some events to enjoy are Cirque Winter Wonderland, snow tubing, gingerbread decorating, snowman building, holiday escape rooms, Tom Braxton holiday jazz show, and more. Gaylord Texan has activities for all age groups looking to enjoy the holidays and Christmas in Dallas.
December 10, 2021 – December 26, 2021
If you’re looking for holiday shows to enjoy solo or with a friend, the Nutcracker Ballet show at Bass Performance Hall is a good choice. With availability times on both weekdays and weekends, you’re sure to find some time to catch a show (Even if you’re a travel nurse!). An extra bonus- if your assignment is closer to Fort Worth than Dallas, the Nutcracker Ballet is being performed at both the Winspear Opera House and Bass Performance Hall.
November 10, 2021 – December 31, 2021
Home to 66 acres of breathtaking views and flowers, makes the Dallas Arboretum the perfect place to explore. For the holidays, they have set up a Christmas Village and unique 12 Days of Christmas carousel. For each of the 12 days, they swap out the rotating displays to match the Christmas song. When you’re looking for a break from walking around, there are cooking demonstrations and seasonal classes available to participate in.
December 6, 2021 – January 30, 2022
Texas doesn’t stop short of the Dallas holiday cheer. There are plenty of Christmas light tours available to book throughout the month. Even going on your own tours around neighborhoods will have you amazed at the effort from everyone.
A unique Christmas light tour being hosted is the Christmas Light Carriage Ride by the Brazos Carriage company. If you’ve met someone special while on your travel nurse assignment or through AdvantisConnect, this is the perfect date night activity. Otherwise, gather up to 10 friends to go on a group ride around the beautifully decorated city.
November 26, 2021 – January 2, 2022
If you’ve heard of the Holiday Wonder at Fair Park, you’ll be familiar with the stunning displays every year. This year, Fair Park has set up holiday lights themed “Enchant Christmas”. Take your time walking around and exploring Fair Park’s enchanting and immersive light maze. If that’s not your thing, there’s also a Christmas market, festive food, and Santa and Mrs. Claus photos.
The most exciting attraction at Enchant Christmas at Fair Park is the ice-skating trail. Unlike regular skating rinks, this one leads you around lit up holiday trees, garlands, and structures. There is always something new to look at with every lap. With Holiday Wonder at Fair Park and Enchant Christmas, we’re excited to see what Fair Park has in store next year!
November 19, 2021 – January 3, 2022
‘Tis the time for holiday cheer and the best way to get into the spirit is with music! Star 102.1 has swapped over to a Christmas radio station for Dallas. You can enjoy all the classic jingles.
However, for a more interactive approach, Frisco Square has begun their yearly special Christmas music station at 107.3 FM. The fun part is, if you’re just driving by the square, you can tune in to your radio and listen to what everyone else is hearing in Frisco Square. Additionally, you can stop by the take photos with Santa, ice skate, ride a horse carriage, or enjoy the light show. All while enjoying the Christmas radio station.
November 19, 2021 – January 2, 2022
Do one million twinkling lights pique your interest? What about in combination of being able to stay in your vehicle the entire time for safe social distancing? If that checks off everything on your holiday checklist, try visiting the Dallas Zoo Christmas Lights Drive-Thru Event. For $65 per car, you and your fellow travel nurse or facility team can enjoy 3-D lighted sculpture and animal lanterns. This year, they will also be premiering immersive video projection mapping to bring more life to the tour. Dallas Zoo takes Christmas in Dallas up a notch.
November 19, 2021 – December 18, 2022
What better way to celebrate the Holidays while on assignment in Dallas than to attend a Cowboys event? The Dallas Cowboys Christmas Extravaganza has been hosted annually for 5 years. This year, it will be hosted in The Star District, where you can find delicious dining choices, shopping, and football-themed décor. You can even pick up a Dallas Cowboy Christmas tree souvenir ornament from a local store. Brag to your friends and family back at home that you got to see the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders in person!

Finally, one of the best festivities to meet new friends as a traveler is a Christmas pub crawl in Dallas. There are plenty of pub crawls being hosted around the holidays. You can even host your own or organize a simple one for you and your friends in Google Maps. To get an idea of how they run, you can check out the 12 Bars of Christmas. It is a well-known Christmas bar crawl that runs in multiple states. Just remember to drink responsibly and don’t drink and drive!
