What certifications are required for this L&D travel nurse job?
Most L&D nurse jobs will require Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications. For high-risk OB roles, certifications like AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring are often preferred. Click "I’m Interested" to connect with a recruiter who can walk you through exactly what’s needed for this role.
What L&D experience is this facility looking for?
Facilities generally look for recent L&D experience, including caring for patients throughout labor, delivery, and immediate recovery. Experience with fetal monitoring, labor induction, C-sections, or high-risk pregnancies may be requested depending on the unit. Click “I’m Interested” to connect with a recruiter about assignment-specific requirements.
How do I get licensed for an Alaska travel assignment?
Alaska is not a Nurse Licensure Compact state, so you’ll need an active Alaska RN license—or an Alaska temporary permit—before practice begins; an out-of-state multistate license doesn’t apply. Apply by endorsement, and start the fingerprint step early: Alaska requires an original FD-258 fingerprint card by mail, and a rejected card may require resubmission. Our Alaska Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Licensing in Alaska

Single-state license required. Alaska is not a Nurse Licensure Compact state, so you'll need a state-specific license. Our licensing team handles endorsement and renewals for you. See the Alaska Licensing Center →

Explore Kodiak, AK

Kodiak, AK sits on an island in the Gulf of Alaska, reachable only by air or the state ferry, and its hospital covers the fishing fleet, the Coast Guard base, and villages scattered across the archipelago. Travel work runs to emergency and inpatient coverage, with weather delays a routine part of both patient transport and personal logistics. Anchorage is about an hour's flight for anything the island cannot handle. Housing is limited, so arranging a place before arrival matters more here than almost anywhere. Rain and wind define the maritime climate, and the payoff is direct access to salmon rivers, hiking, and some of the most open country a contract can offer. Groceries cost more, so travelers budget accordingly.
