FAQs – PCU Travel Nurse Jobs Near Havasu, AZ

What certifications do travel PCU jobs require?
Most travel PCU jobs require Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Units that care for stroke patients often ask for NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) as well. A Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) credential isn't usually required, but many facilities view it as a plus.
What do facilities require for travel PCU nurses?
Facilities typically want recent progressive care, step-down, or intermediate-care experience with continuous cardiac monitoring, higher-acuity patients, and infusions such as diltiazem, amiodarone, insulin, or heparin. Depending on the unit, post-cath, cardiac, respiratory, or postoperative experience may also matter.
Is PCU the same as step-down or intermediate care?
Often, but not always. PCU, step-down, IMC, and transitional-care labels can describe similar units, but acuity, patient mix, allowed drips, and respiratory support vary by hospital. Compare the actual responsibilities with your experience rather than relying on the unit name alone.
What trauma level is Havasu Regional?
Havasu Regional is a Level III trauma center where emergency and ICU nurses care for trauma, cardiac, and critically ill patients around the clock. More severe cases may be stabilized before transfer to larger regional centers, giving travelers experience with both emergency stabilization and ongoing acute care.
What specialties can travel RNs work in at Havasu Regional Medical Center?
As a 171-bed community and regional referral hospital, Havasu Regional runs medical-surgical, ICU, emergency, telemetry/cardiac, surgical, oncology, labor-and-delivery, wound care, and a skilled-nursing unit.
What charting system will PCU travel RN use at Havasu Regional Medical Center?
Havasu Regional does not publicly identify its inpatient charting system. Travel nurses should confirm the current EMR with their recruiter or unit before starting the assignment so they know what documentation platform to expect.

Explore Havasu, AZ

Lake Havasu City, AZ sits on the Colorado River at the California line, where the winter-visitor season reshapes hospital demand from November through March. Assignments concentrate in emergency departments and medical-surgical units, and the seasonal swing makes winter the strongest stretch for contracts. AZ-95 forms the town's spine, with most rentals, groceries, and the river channel a few minutes off it. Kingman lies about an hour northeast toward I-40, and Parker and Bullhead City are the other river-town stops in either direction. Summer heat is severe, so housing with dependable air conditioning matters more here than in most markets. The London Bridge and the channel beaches sit minutes from nearly any rental in town, though big boating weekends jam the channel-side streets and are worth planning shifts around.
