FAQs – ER Travel Nurse Jobs Near Denver, CO

What certifications are required for this ER travel job?
Most travel ER jobs require BLS and ACLS. TNCC may be required for trauma care. Pediatric requirements can include PALS, ENPC, or both, depending on whether the facility accepts ENPC in place of PALS. Confirm the required combination before booking a course or renewing credentials.
What recent experience do facilities look for in travel ER nurses?
Facilities typically look for recent emergency department experience caring for a wide range of acuity levels, from lower-acuity patients to unstable patients who may need rapid intervention. Trauma exposure, critical care skills, pediatric experience, and triage experience can all matter depending on the department. The strongest match is usually a recent ER background that reflects the patient volume, acuity, and responsibilities of the assignment.
What types of patients do travel ER nurses typically care for?
Travel ER nurses may care for patients with medical emergencies, injuries, behavioral health needs, cardiac or respiratory conditions, and patients awaiting admission to another unit. Some departments also manage ventilated patients or titratable drips while patients wait for an ICU bed. Patient mix and acuity vary by hospital, so travelers should compare the department’s typical population with their recent experience.
Will my compact RN license work for this Colorado assignment?
Yes—an active multistate RN license covers this assignment because Colorado is a Nurse Licensure Compact state. For endorsement, know Colorado’s fingerprint rule: a background check from a previous application can’t be reused, because prints must be submitted specifically for the Colorado nursing application. Our Colorado Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.
What type of specialty patients can travel nurses expect at Presbyterian St. Luke's?
Presbyterian St. Luke's is known for complex medical and surgical care, including kidney and liver transplant, blood cancer treatment, CAR T-cell therapy, major surgery, and high-risk obstetrics. Travelers may work with highly specialized adult and maternal patients.
What transplant experience is available at Presbyterian St. Luke's?
The hospital performs kidney and liver transplants from living and deceased donors, with patients moving from ICU care to a dedicated transplant unit after surgery. Transplant and surgical travelers may work across the immediate postoperative and recovery phases.

Explore Denver, CO

Denver, CO connects the A Line and the Cherry Creek Trail with an extensive regional hospital network, including Denver Health and UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital. Those systems support regional patient volume across the Front Range, and travelers frequently work the ICU and operating rooms to meet a major metro's needs. Many find housing in nearby Aurora, Lakewood, or Arvada for a simple commute into the city center. The Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora concentrates much of the region's specialized care, drawing patients from across the Front Range.
