FAQs – ER Travel Nurse Jobs Near Atlanta, GA

What certifications are required for this ER travel job?
Most travel ER jobs require BLS and ACLS. TNCC may be required for trauma care. Pediatric requirements can include PALS, ENPC, or both, depending on whether the facility accepts ENPC in place of PALS. Confirm the required combination before booking a course or renewing credentials.
What recent experience do facilities look for in travel ER nurses?
Facilities typically look for recent emergency department experience caring for a wide range of acuity levels, from lower-acuity patients to unstable patients who may need rapid intervention. Trauma exposure, critical care skills, pediatric experience, and triage experience can all matter depending on the department. The strongest match is usually a recent ER background that reflects the patient volume, acuity, and responsibilities of the assignment.
What types of patients do travel ER nurses typically care for?
Travel ER nurses may care for patients with medical emergencies, injuries, behavioral health needs, cardiac or respiratory conditions, and patients awaiting admission to another unit. Some departments also manage ventilated patients or titratable drips while patients wait for an ICU bed. Patient mix and acuity vary by hospital, so travelers should compare the department’s typical population with their recent experience.
Is a separate Georgia license required for this travel assignment?
No—Georgia honors active multistate RN licenses through the Nurse Licensure Compact. For licensure by endorsement, register with GAPS/Idemia when you submit the application, then complete fingerprinting only after the Board’s emailed instructions arrive. Our Georgia Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.
What kind of case mix can travel nurses expect at Emory University Hospital Midtown?
Emory Midtown is a Magnet tertiary teaching hospital with emergency, cardiac, neurological, surgical, maternity, and neonatal services. Travelers may work with both community-based acute-care patients and complex cases supported by Emory's academic programs.
What should critical-care and cardiac travelers know about Emory Midtown?
The hospital has medical and coronary ICUs plus cardiology and heart-surgery services, and it is a Level I Emergency Cardiac Care Center. ICU and cardiac travelers may care for patients requiring intensive monitoring after acute cardiac events or procedures.

Explore Atlanta, GA

One of the Southeast's deepest academic-medicine networks centers on Atlanta, GA, with Emory University Hospital and Grady Memorial Hospital among the systems a traveler will quickly recognize. Operating rooms and emergency departments across the metro keep RN assignments circulating among several campuses rather than clustering in one district. Many travelers base in Decatur, Marietta, or Roswell, trading a longer drive for easier suburban housing. Traffic, not job count, tends to be the real variable here, so a short commute often matters more than a central address. The footprint is broad enough that finding the next contract rarely means leaving the metro. Off shift, the BeltLine's miles of walking and cycling paths sit close at hand for an easy way to decompress.
