FAQs – Travel X-Ray Tech Jobs Near Alpharetta, GA

What certifications are required for a travel X-Ray Tech job?
Current ARRT certification and registration in Radiography, ARRT (R), and BLS are common requirements, along with a state license or certification where required. Assignments involving fluoroscopy or OR C-arm work may require an additional permit.
What X-Ray experience do I need to apply for travel X-Ray Tech jobs?
Facilities typically want recent experience working independently with the types of imaging responsibilities included in the role. Travelers should highlight the settings they have worked in, the equipment they are comfortable using, and any experience with portable imaging, emergency departments, operating rooms, or other areas outside a standard radiology department. Showing the breadth of your recent experience can help facilities determine how quickly you can step into the assignment.
Do travel X-Ray Tech jobs usually include work outside the main imaging department?
They can. Hospital-based assignments may involve portable exams, emergency department coverage, operating room imaging, or other responsibilities throughout the facility. The amount of cross-coverage varies by hospital, so it is helpful to understand where technologists are expected to work and whether any additional competencies or permits are required before accepting the assignment.
Do I need a state license for this Georgia X-Ray Tech job?
Georgia does not currently issue an individual state license for X-Ray Techs. ARRT certification may still be required by the hiring facility, so check the qualifications listed for the assignment. Visit the Georgia Department of Community Health for current state requirements.

Georgia combines Atlanta’s metropolitan energy with mountain towns, agricultural country, and a distinctive Atlantic coast. For allied travelers, Atlanta’s academic medical community and network of diagnostic imaging locations reflect the scale of care within the metro. Beyond its medical districts, the city offers major sports, international restaurants, and a strong music scene. Savannah’s shaded squares and historic architecture create a different setting, with the coastal islands nearby. North Georgia brings Blue Ridge scenery, while Macon’s musical heritage adds another reason to head into the center of the state. Regional food ties these places together, from barbecue and seasonal peaches to coastal seafood, giving Georgia an appeal that extends well beyond its capital.
