FAQs – ER Travel Nurse Jobs Near Martinsville, IN

What certifications are required for this ER travel job?
Most travel ER jobs require BLS and ACLS. TNCC may be required for trauma care. Pediatric requirements can include PALS, ENPC, or both, depending on whether the facility accepts ENPC in place of PALS. Confirm the required combination before booking a course or renewing credentials.
What recent experience do facilities look for in travel ER nurses?
Facilities typically look for recent emergency department experience caring for a wide range of acuity levels, from lower-acuity patients to unstable patients who may need rapid intervention. Trauma exposure, critical care skills, pediatric experience, and triage experience can all matter depending on the department. The strongest match is usually a recent ER background that reflects the patient volume, acuity, and responsibilities of the assignment.
What types of patients do travel ER nurses typically care for?
Travel ER nurses may care for patients with medical emergencies, injuries, behavioral health needs, cardiac or respiratory conditions, and patients awaiting admission to another unit. Some departments also manage ventilated patients or titratable drips while patients wait for an ICU bed. Patient mix and acuity vary by hospital, so travelers should compare the department’s typical population with their recent experience.
Does my compact license apply to this Indiana assignment?
Yes—Indiana recognizes active multistate RN licenses through the Nurse Licensure Compact, so no separate application is needed. For endorsement, sequence matters: don’t get fingerprinted until the PLA receives your application and emails the official service code—background checks completed early are invalid and must be repeated. Our Indiana Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Indianapolis anchors a substantial hospital community in Indiana, while northern and southern cities have their own regional identities. For travel nurses, the state combines an urban capital with lake-country and Ohio River settings. Indianapolis has sports venues, museums, and a downtown canal, offering outings that can fit within the city. Northern Indiana adds Lake Michigan’s dunes and shoreline as regional destinations, while the south has river towns and wooded hills. This is a broader picture than the state’s reputation for basketball and motor racing alone. A nursing stay can center on local cultural events and neighborhood routines, with the surrounding region providing a different backdrop depending on where the assignment is based.
