FAQs – Operating Room Travel Nurse Jobs Near Newburgh, IN

What certifications do travel OR jobs require?
Most travel OR positions require Basic Life Support (BLS), and many hospitals also require Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). CNOR is preferred by many facilities but required by only a few. Pediatric ORs may ask for PALS.
What recent OR experience is required for travel OR nurse jobs?
Most OR travel jobs expect confidence in general and orthopedic cases plus several additional service lines such as neuro, spine, urology, GYN, vascular, or ENT. Robotic experience is also commonly requested. Facilities may ask for a service-line skills checklist, so be specific about the cases you have circulated or scrubbed recently.
Do travel OR jobs include call?
Often, yes. Hospital OR assignments commonly include evening, overnight, or weekend call, while outpatient surgery centers are less likely to. Call frequency, required response time, and call pay vary by facility, so confirm all three before you accept.
Does my compact license apply to this Indiana assignment?
Yes—Indiana recognizes active multistate RN licenses through the Nurse Licensure Compact, so no separate application is needed. For endorsement, sequence matters: don’t get fingerprinted until the PLA receives your application and emails the official service code—background checks completed early are invalid and must be repeated. Our Indiana Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.
What types of units can travel RNs work in at Deaconess Gateway Hospital?
Deaconess Gateway is part of a campus that includes dedicated heart and vascular, orthopedic and neuroscience, and women's services. Travel RNs may find opportunities across cardiac, ortho/neuro, women's health, and general acute-care units depending on their specialty and experience.
What is the nursing workflow like at Deaconess Gateway Hospital?
Deaconess Gateway uses a universal bed care model, allowing patients to receive different levels of care in the same room as their needs change. For travel nurses, particularly in med/surg and progressive care, this can mean caring for patients across changing acuity levels without traditional unit transfers.

Explore Newburgh, IN

Newburgh, IN keeps a quiet riverside pace within reach of a regional network that includes Evansville-area facilities like Deaconess Midtown Hospital. The local corridor leans on big inpatient units and the emergency department to support regional patient flow for the tri-state area. Nurses taking contracts in the region often find assignments opening in nearby Evansville and Chandler. The restored historic riverfront gives the town a distinct character despite its small size. On a day off, the Rivertown Trail and the historic downtown shops offer a simple way to step away from the floor. The Ohio River puts Kentucky and Illinois minutes away, so the tri-state market a traveler can work from Newburgh is wider than the town's size suggests.
