FAQs – Travel Occupational Therapy Assistant Jobs Near Stoughton, MA

What license and certifications do I need for travel OTA jobs?
You need an active OTA license in the assignment state or an OT Compact privilege, which is available only when both your home state and the assignment state are actively issuing. Most facilities also require current NBCOT certification as a COTA and BLS. Because the OT Compact is still onboarding states, many assignments still require a traditional license.
How does supervision work for travel OTAs?
The supervising OT completes evaluations, establishes the plan of care, and remains responsible for reassessment and discharge, while the OTA delivers delegated treatment and documents progress. State rules and facility policies determine how often supervision occurs and whether the OT must be on site.
What do travel OTA assignments involve day to day?
The day-to-day role depends heavily on setting. SNF work often centers on ADL retraining, adaptive equipment, and productivity targets; inpatient rehab adds higher-acuity functional training; and school roles focus on fine-motor, sensory, and classroom participation goals. Ask about caseload size and how quickly the facility expects a traveler to reach a full schedule.

Boston has specialized inpatient rehabilitation for complex recovery, while outpatient physical therapy reaches coastal communities on Cape Cod and towns across the Berkshires. Around Boston and Cambridge, university museums, independent bookstores, and neighborhood restaurants keep city life interesting through the colder months. Summer opens up a different side of the state, from the Cape’s beaches and dunes to outdoor concerts in the western hills. Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket add island villages and maritime history for a longer getaway by ferry. In autumn, orchards and country roads draw visitors inland, while college towns remain active with performances and public events.
