FAQs – ER Travel Nurse Jobs Near Pontiac, MI

What certifications are required for this ER travel job?
Most travel ER jobs require BLS and ACLS. TNCC may be required for trauma care. Pediatric requirements can include PALS, ENPC, or both, depending on whether the facility accepts ENPC in place of PALS. Confirm the required combination before booking a course or renewing credentials.
What recent experience do facilities look for in travel ER nurses?
Facilities typically look for recent emergency department experience caring for a wide range of acuity levels, from lower-acuity patients to unstable patients who may need rapid intervention. Trauma exposure, critical care skills, pediatric experience, and triage experience can all matter depending on the department. The strongest match is usually a recent ER background that reflects the patient volume, acuity, and responsibilities of the assignment.
What types of patients do travel ER nurses typically care for?
Travel ER nurses may care for patients with medical emergencies, injuries, behavioral health needs, cardiac or respiratory conditions, and patients awaiting admission to another unit. Some departments also manage ventilated patients or titratable drips while patients wait for an ICU bed. Patient mix and acuity vary by hospital, so travelers should compare the department’s typical population with their recent experience.
What license verifications are required for this Michigan travel assignment?
Michigan requires license verification from every jurisdiction where you’ve ever held a nursing license—not only your original or most recent state. And because Michigan isn’t a Nurse Licensure Compact state, an out-of-state multistate license doesn’t cover this assignment; unless you hold an active Michigan RN license, apply by endorsement through Michigan LARA. Our Michigan Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Benefits

  • Day One Benefits, Medical, Dental, Vision & 401(k)
  • Relocation and Travel Reimbursement
  • Dedicated team to help with state licensing & renewals
  • Weekly Direct Deposit
  • $1,000 Referral Bonus + $250 Bonus for Your Referral

Resources for this ER job in Pontiac

Explore Pontiac, MI

Pontiac, MI holds the center of Oakland County where I-75 meets M-59, putting hospital assignments across Detroit's northern suburbs within a short drive. Local demand runs to telemetry and emergency department coverage serving a dense suburban population. Auburn Hills, Rochester Hills, and Troy border the city and hold most of the traveler housing, generally at rents below the pricier suburbs farther south. The Clinton River Trail cuts through town for time outdoors between shifts without a drive. Winter contracts come with real Michigan snow, though the freeway commutes stay short enough that weather rarely costs much time. Downtown Detroit and the airport sit about forty-five minutes down I-75 when a bigger city calls.
