FAQs – ICU Travel Nurse Jobs Near Bay City, MI

What certifications do travel ICU jobs require?
Most travel ICU jobs require Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Neuro and stroke units commonly add NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and pediatric or mixed units may ask for PALS. The CCRN credential is preferred by many facilities and required by a few.
Will I float on a travel ICU assignment?
It depends on the facility and the contract. ICU travelers may float to PCU, step-down, ER holds, or other critical care areas, while some hospitals limit floating more narrowly. Float expectations are not always visible in the posting, so confirm the policy before accepting an assignment.
What experience is required for travel ICU RN jobs?
Most travel ICU RN jobs require recent critical care experience caring for high-acuity patients and independently managing ventilators, vasoactive drips, sedation, and invasive lines. Some units may also look for experience with CRRT, IABP, Impella, ECMO, or other advanced therapies. Requirements vary by ICU type, so facilities typically want your recent experience to closely match the patient population, devices, and level of care on the assignment.
What license verifications are required for this Michigan travel assignment?
Michigan requires license verification from every jurisdiction where you’ve ever held a nursing license—not only your original or most recent state. And because Michigan isn’t a Nurse Licensure Compact state, an out-of-state multistate license doesn’t cover this assignment; unless you hold an active Michigan RN license, apply by endorsement through Michigan LARA. Our Michigan Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Resources for this ICU job in Bay City

Explore Bay City, MI

Tall ships once crowded the Saginaw River at Bay City, MI, and the maritime past still shapes the town, from the naval ship museum to the riverfront parks that host summer festival crowds. The hospital base here works inside the Great Lakes Bay region's three-city market, with travel demand leaning toward emergency and telemetry roles and additional contracts surfacing in Saginaw and Midland nearby. One rental covers all three cities. Rental prices stay gentle, and the rebuilt downtown's antique blocks and brewpubs keep evenings local. Wenonah Park holds down the riverfront calendar through the warm months. Saginaw Bay opens just north for fishing and beach days, with Lake Huron's bigger water beyond it.
