How much ER experience do I need for this travel assignment?

Will North Carolina accept my multistate RN license for this assignment?
Yes—North Carolina is a Nurse Licensure Compact state, so an active multistate RN license covers this assignment. Nurses without compact privilege can apply for licensure by endorsement through the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Our North Carolina Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.
As western North Carolina's only Level I trauma center, what acuity will travel nurses see at Mission Hospital in Asheville?
The only ACS-verified Level I Trauma Center serving western North Carolina, Mission Hospital is an 850-plus-bed regional referral center with a broad, complex case mix.
Mission Hospital is Magnet-recognized — what specialty acuity comes with that for travel nurses?
Magnet recognition for nursing excellence (renewed in 2025) pairs with western North Carolina's only Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Level III NICU — a high-acuity neuro and neonatal environment.
What broader case mix backs up that acuity at Mission Hospital for travel nurses?
Beyond trauma and stroke, Mission spans emergency, neonatal, surgical, and specialty care as western North Carolina's tertiary referral hub, and it has been named one of Healthgrades' America's 50 Best Hospitals for 11 consecutive years (2016–2026).

Explore Asheville, NC

Tucked into the southern Blue Ridge, Asheville, NC is the referral center for a wide mountain region. Mission Hospital anchors that care, and travelers here often land contracts in maternity units and operating rooms as the surrounding population funnels in. Smaller facilities nearby carry their own caseloads, and many clinicians choose housing in Hendersonville or Weaverville for a straightforward drive to the main campuses, with rents that ease the farther out one bases. Time off looks nothing like the clinical day. Nurses routinely hike Pisgah National Forest or wander the studios of the River Arts District to recharge. Because the mountains make Asheville the natural hub for the region, the work tends to stay available across the seasons.
