What productivity and caseload do travel PT jobs expect?
Expectations vary more by setting than by employer. Outpatient clinics may track patients per day, SNFs often use productivity targets, acute care combines visits with discharge planning, and home health may use visit or point systems. Ask for the actual target and ramp-up expectations before accepting.
Will I supervise PTAs on a travel PT assignment?
Frequently, yes. Some facilities pair travel PTs with one or more PTAs, so the role may include plans of care, reassessments, delegation, and supervision in addition to your own caseload. Ask how many PTAs you will supervise and what the state, setting, payer, and facility require.
Does North Carolina participate in the PT Compact for this travel contract?
Yes—North Carolina is a full PT Compact member. North Carolina requires its jurisprudence exercise within 30 days after the initial privilege and each renewal. Therapists pursuing full licensure complete fingerprint-based background checks plus license and examination verifications. Visit the North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for current requirements and application steps.
