Travel Vascular Tech Requirements:

  • 2+ years of recent Vascular Tech experience.
  • Must hold all required certifications and licenses as mandated by North Carolina and national regulatory bodies.
What certifications do travel Vascular Tech jobs require?
Most require BLS and an active vascular registry: the Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through ARDMS or the Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through CCI. RDMS and cardiac credentials are separate registries and don't substitute for vascular, and labs accredited by the IAC generally require the vascular registry specifically. A few states also license sonographers, so a state license may be required in addition.
What studies do travel Vascular Tech jobs involve?
Most assignments include carotid duplex, venous DVT exams, arterial studies, ABIs or segmental pressures, and abdominal aortic screening. Some labs also perform reflux, renal or mesenteric studies, dialysis access work, vein mapping, or transcranial Doppler. Compare the exam list with your recent independent experience.
How can Vascular Tech travel jobs differ between facilities?
The work can vary significantly by setting. Hospital-based roles may include portable inpatient exams and call coverage, while outpatient vascular labs often have a more scheduled workflow. Smaller facilities may also combine vascular and cardiac imaging responsibilities, which can require additional experience or credentials. Understanding the staffing model and coverage expectations can help you determine whether the assignment fits your background.
What imaging would techs handle at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem?
CT, MRI, and IR techs handle the most complex imaging at the region's only Level I adult and pediatric trauma center and only burn center, served by AirCare transport.
What radiation-oncology work runs at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center?
Radiation therapists work at an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, charting on Epic (WakeOne).
What cardiac surgery would cath-lab travelers find at Wake Forest Baptist?
Its hybrid cardiac and vascular cath lab performs open-heart surgery, valve repair, and CABG for cath-lab, cardiovascular, and surgical techs.
