FAQs – ER Travel Nurse Jobs Near Albuquerque, NM

What certifications are required for this ER travel job?
Most travel ER jobs require BLS and ACLS. TNCC may be required for trauma care. Pediatric requirements can include PALS, ENPC, or both, depending on whether the facility accepts ENPC in place of PALS. Confirm the required combination before booking a course or renewing credentials.
What recent experience do facilities look for in travel ER nurses?
Facilities typically look for recent emergency department experience caring for a wide range of acuity levels, from lower-acuity patients to unstable patients who may need rapid intervention. Trauma exposure, critical care skills, pediatric experience, and triage experience can all matter depending on the department. The strongest match is usually a recent ER background that reflects the patient volume, acuity, and responsibilities of the assignment.
What types of patients do travel ER nurses typically care for?
Travel ER nurses may care for patients with medical emergencies, injuries, behavioral health needs, cardiac or respiratory conditions, and patients awaiting admission to another unit. Some departments also manage ventilated patients or titratable drips while patients wait for an ICU bed. Patient mix and acuity vary by hospital, so travelers should compare the department’s typical population with their recent experience.
Is Lovelace Women's Hospital only an obstetric facility?
No. In addition to high-risk maternity and neonatal care, Lovelace Women's Hospital has an emergency department, adult ICU, medical-surgical services, and surgical programs. Travelers may work in adult acute care as well as women's and newborn specialties.
What should high-risk OB travelers know about Lovelace Women's Hospital?
Maternity services include antepartum care, maternal-fetal medicine, VBAC, 24/7 obstetric anesthesia, and perinatology coverage. L&D travelers may care for complicated pregnancies with specialty support immediately available.
How advanced is neonatal care at Lovelace Women's Hospital?
The Level III NICU cares for premature and critically ill newborns with neonatal specialists and respiratory, physical, occupational, and speech therapy support. NICU travelers may work with babies who need multidisciplinary developmental and respiratory care.
