FAQs – ER Travel Nurse Jobs Near Santa Fe, NM

What certifications are required for this ER travel job?
Most travel ER jobs require BLS and ACLS. TNCC may be required for trauma care. Pediatric requirements can include PALS, ENPC, or both, depending on whether the facility accepts ENPC in place of PALS. Confirm the required combination before booking a course or renewing credentials.
What recent experience do facilities look for in travel ER nurses?
Facilities typically look for recent emergency department experience caring for a wide range of acuity levels, from lower-acuity patients to unstable patients who may need rapid intervention. Trauma exposure, critical care skills, pediatric experience, and triage experience can all matter depending on the department. The strongest match is usually a recent ER background that reflects the patient volume, acuity, and responsibilities of the assignment.
What types of patients do travel ER nurses typically care for?
Travel ER nurses may care for patients with medical emergencies, injuries, behavioral health needs, cardiac or respiratory conditions, and patients awaiting admission to another unit. Some departments also manage ventilated patients or titratable drips while patients wait for an ICU bed. Patient mix and acuity vary by hospital, so travelers should compare the department’s typical population with their recent experience.
What kind of assignment can a travel RN expect at CHRISTUS St. Vincent?
CHRISTUS St. Vincent is a regional acute-care hospital serving north-central New Mexico with emergency, medical-surgical, ICU, surgery, rehabilitation, psychiatric, and maternity services. Travelers may see a broad community-referral patient mix rather than a narrowly specialized caseload.
How does emergency and trauma care shape nursing work at CHRISTUS St. Vincent?
The 24/7 emergency department is backed by surgical, cardiac, stroke, and specialty services for serious illness and injury. ED and ICU travelers may care for patients who require rapid stabilization followed by inpatient or procedural treatment.
What nontraditional inpatient settings are available for RNs at CHRISTUS St. Vincent?
In addition to medical-surgical and ICU care, the hospital has inpatient rehabilitation and an adult inpatient psychiatric unit. Travelers with rehab or behavioral-health backgrounds may find dedicated programs alongside the hospital's acute-care services.

Explore Santa Fe, NM

Santa Fe, NM handles hospital coverage for much of northern New Mexico, with patients arriving from mountain and pueblo communities well beyond the city itself. Operating rooms and emergency departments generate most of the travel demand. The city sits at about 7,000 feet, and new arrivals usually need several days before the altitude stops registering on a flight of stairs. Espanola and Los Alamos lie a half hour north, while Albuquerque and its airport are an hour south on I-25. Housing runs expensive near the Plaza, so travelers often look to the south side or Eldorado to keep rents workable. The Sangre de Cristo trailheads begin just above the city's east side.
