FAQs – Labor and Delivery Travel Nurse Jobs Near Loris, SC

What certifications do travel L&D jobs require?
Most travel L&D jobs require Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and a current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) provider card. Many facilities also require an intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring course.
What experience do facilities look for in L&D travel nurses?
Facilities generally want recent labor and delivery experience with fetal monitoring, labor progression, inductions, obstetric emergencies, and higher-risk pregnancies. Experience with magnesium sulfate, preterm labor, hypertensive disorders, and other common L&D scenarios may also be important depending on the unit’s acuity. Travelers should clearly describe the types of patients and deliveries they have managed independently.
How can an L&D nurses responsibilities differ between travel assignments?
The scope of an L&D role can vary significantly by hospital. Some units focus primarily on labor and delivery, while others expect nurses to cover antepartum, postpartum, couplet care, newborn stabilization, or surgical delivery responsibilities. Understanding the areas you may cover can help you compare the assignment with your recent experience and determine whether it is a strong clinical match.
Can I begin orientation before my South Carolina license is issued?
Only with an active multistate RN license or a current South Carolina temporary or permanent license. South Carolina counts orientation—classroom sessions and policy review included—as nursing practice, so your authorization must be in hand before day one, not just before your first shift. Otherwise, apply for licensure by endorsement. Our South Carolina Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Explore Loris, SC

Loris, SC keeps tobacco-town roots in Horry County's quiet inland corner, a small community whose hospital extends the coastal market's reach away from the beach traffic. Open contracts here lean toward emergency department and med-surg floor work at settled community scale. Myrtle Beach's sixty miles of sand, piers, and restaurant rows lie about forty minutes southeast for off-shift beach runs. The town's beloved Bog-Off festival each fall celebrates chicken bog, the region's signature rice-and-chicken dish, with cheerful cook-off crowds filling the whole downtown. The cost of housing runs far below anything on the Grand Strand, which remains the simple practical math of basing inland. Daily life stays small-town friendly, with farm stands and slow porches setting the pace.
