FAQs – Travel CT Tech Jobs Near Chattanooga, TN

What certifications and credentials are required for travel CT Tech jobs?
ARRT (CT) is a common requirement; some employers accept NMTCB (CT). ARRT (CT) requires a supporting credential in radiography, nuclear medicine technology, or radiation therapy. Additional requirements include BLS and a state imaging license or certification.
Is X-Ray experience enough to qualify for a travel CT Tech position?
Usually, facilities want recent hands-on CT experience in addition to a radiography background. Travelers should be prepared to show that they have worked independently in CT and are comfortable with the pace, patient populations, and responsibilities expected in the department. Recent CT experience is especially important for travel roles where orientation may be limited.
Do travel CT Tech jobs require IV and contrast experience?
Many hospital CT assignments include contrast-enhanced imaging and may look for experience with IV starts, power injectors, contrast administration, and contrast-reaction procedures. CT certification alone does not authorize every contrast-related responsibility, so permitted duties can depend on state rules, facility policy, required supervision, and documented competency.
Which Tennessee credential covers CT Tech work?
Tennessee doesn't issue a separate CT credential. In medical and osteopathic practices regulated by the Board, CT technologists generally need full X-ray operator certification; limited-scope certificates cover only specified procedures and don't authorize CT. Requirements can differ in facilities outside that program, so confirm the assignment's work setting and any ARRT (CT) requirement with the employer. Visit the Tennessee Department of Health for current requirements and application steps.

Explore Chattanooga, TN

Chattanooga, TN sits along the Tennessee River with hospital-based imaging services that include CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray, and other diagnostic care. The city's healthcare mix includes several types of technical services that may be relevant across Allied specialties. Downtown and the North Shore are connected by the pedestrian-only Walnut Street Bridge, while the Tennessee Riverwalk follows the river through several parts of Chattanooga. Those connections make the waterfront easy to explore without turning downtime into a long trip. Stringer's Ridge adds wooded trails and overlooks within the city for another nearby option. Because the river and surrounding ridges shape Chattanooga's street network, checking the actual route between housing and a worksite can be more useful than relying on distance alone.
