FAQs – ER Travel Nurse Jobs Near Fort Worth, TX

What certifications are required for this ER travel job?
Most travel ER jobs require BLS and ACLS. TNCC may be required for trauma care. Pediatric requirements can include PALS, ENPC, or both, depending on whether the facility accepts ENPC in place of PALS. Confirm the required combination before booking a course or renewing credentials.
What recent experience do facilities look for in travel ER nurses?
Facilities typically look for recent emergency department experience caring for a wide range of acuity levels, from lower-acuity patients to unstable patients who may need rapid intervention. Trauma exposure, critical care skills, pediatric experience, and triage experience can all matter depending on the department. The strongest match is usually a recent ER background that reflects the patient volume, acuity, and responsibilities of the assignment.
What types of patients do travel ER nurses typically care for?
Travel ER nurses may care for patients with medical emergencies, injuries, behavioral health needs, cardiac or respiratory conditions, and patients awaiting admission to another unit. Some departments also manage ventilated patients or titratable drips while patients wait for an ICU bed. Patient mix and acuity vary by hospital, so travelers should compare the department’s typical population with their recent experience.
Do I need to apply for a Texas nursing license for this travel nurse assignment?
Not if you already hold an active Texas RN license or an active multistate RN license—Texas participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact. If neither applies, you’ll generally need Texas licensure through the Texas Board of Nursing; nurses applying by endorsement must pass the Texas Nursing Jurisprudence Exam. Our Texas Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.
What type of referral patients can travel nurses expect at Medical City Fort Worth?
Medical City Fort Worth is a Magnet tertiary referral hospital serving a wide area around Tarrant County, with cardiovascular, neuroscience, kidney transplant, surgical, and critical-care programs. Travelers may see complex patients transferred for specialty treatment.
Which cardiac and neuro services drive high-acuity RN assignments at Medical City Fort Worth?
The hospital supports bypass and valve surgery, TAVR, LVAD care, Comprehensive Stroke Center services, neuro ICU care, and brain and spine treatment. Cardiac, neuro, and ICU travelers may work with advanced procedural and postoperative populations.

Explore Fort Worth, TX

Fort Worth, TX runs one of Texas's larger hospital markets, with a defined medical district south of downtown that concentrates much of the inpatient work. Intensive care and labor and delivery units generate consistent travel demand across the metro. I-35W and I-30 cross at the city's center, and the Trinity Railway Express connects downtown to Dallas while TEXRail runs directly to DFW Airport. Housing spreads from Keller and north Fort Worth down to Burleson, generally cheaper than comparable Dallas suburbs. The medical district overlaps the Near Southside, whose Magnolia Avenue restaurants sit within walking distance of several campuses, and the Stockyards and Cultural District museums round out days off. Weatherford and Granbury lie under an hour west for travelers who prefer a small-town base.
