FAQs – ER Travel Nurse Jobs Near Pecos, TX

What certifications are required for this ER travel job?
Most travel ER jobs require BLS and ACLS. TNCC may be required for trauma care. Pediatric requirements can include PALS, ENPC, or both, depending on whether the facility accepts ENPC in place of PALS. Confirm the required combination before booking a course or renewing credentials.
What recent experience do facilities look for in travel ER nurses?
Facilities typically look for recent emergency department experience caring for a wide range of acuity levels, from lower-acuity patients to unstable patients who may need rapid intervention. Trauma exposure, critical care skills, pediatric experience, and triage experience can all matter depending on the department. The strongest match is usually a recent ER background that reflects the patient volume, acuity, and responsibilities of the assignment.
What types of patients do travel ER nurses typically care for?
Travel ER nurses may care for patients with medical emergencies, injuries, behavioral health needs, cardiac or respiratory conditions, and patients awaiting admission to another unit. Some departments also manage ventilated patients or titratable drips while patients wait for an ICU bed. Patient mix and acuity vary by hospital, so travelers should compare the department’s typical population with their recent experience.
Do I need to apply for a Texas nursing license for this travel nurse assignment?
Not if you already hold an active Texas RN license or an active multistate RN license—Texas participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact. If neither applies, you’ll generally need Texas licensure through the Texas Board of Nursing; nurses applying by endorsement must pass the Texas Nursing Jurisprudence Exam. Our Texas Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Resources for this ER job in Pecos

Explore Pecos, TX

Pecos, TX draws patients from across a wide stretch of the Permian Basin, giving travel nurses in this West Texas town a caseload shaped by rural distances and oilfield work. The local hospital leans on travelers to keep emergency and inpatient coverage in place, often the closest care for many miles. Odessa, Midland, and Fort Stockton sit an hour or more out along Interstate 20 and US-285, and they hold the nearest airport access between contracts. Long drives come with the territory, and housing usually clusters near the highway into town, where most services sit. The work settles into a regular cover-the-region rhythm, and the drives between sites eat more of the day than the caseload does.
