FAQs – Travel Ultrasound Tech Jobs Near Burlington, VT

What certifications are required for travel Ultrasound Tech jobs?

Most travel Ultrasound Tech jobs require an active ARDMS credential that matches the specialty being staffed:

RDMS: Diagnostic medical sonography, including abdomen, OB/GYN, breast, and pediatric sonography RDCS: Cardiac sonography RVT: Vascular ultrasound Some facilities may accept an equivalent ARRT or CCI credential, and BLS is typically required. Submit an “I’m Interested” form, and a recruiter can confirm the complete credential and licensing requirements for the assignment.

How much independent scanning experience do travel Ultrasound Tech jobs usually require?
Facilities generally look for recent experience working independently with the patient populations and imaging responsibilities included in the role. Travelers should be prepared to clearly describe the areas they scan regularly, how independently they work, and whether their recent experience is broad or concentrated in one specialty. This helps facilities determine whether your background matches the position.
Can an Ultrasound Tech travel job require experience in more than one specialty?
Yes. Some assignments combine general ultrasound with vascular or other imaging responsibilities, especially at smaller facilities. When a role covers multiple areas, facilities may expect both recent hands-on experience and the appropriate registry for each specialty. Review the full scope of the position rather than assuming a general ultrasound background covers every responsibility.
What imaging and procedural work is available?
As Vermont's only Level I (adult) trauma and tertiary referral center, imaging covers the full CT, MRI, interventional radiology, and ultrasound workload for a million-person catchment.
What EMR does the hospital use?
Epic (since 2019).
What surgical specialties are on site?
Comprehensive surgical services — neurological, cardiac, and pediatric — plus trauma and burn-related surgery, with a trauma elevator linking the ED directly to third-floor ORs.
