FAQs – ICU Travel Nurse Jobs Near Edmonds, WA

What certifications do travel ICU jobs require?
Most travel ICU jobs require Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Neuro and stroke units commonly add NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and pediatric or mixed units may ask for PALS. The CCRN credential is preferred by many facilities and required by a few.
Will I float on a travel ICU assignment?
It depends on the facility and the contract. ICU travelers may float to PCU, step-down, ER holds, or other critical care areas, while some hospitals limit floating more narrowly. Float expectations are not always visible in the posting, so confirm the policy before accepting an assignment.
What experience is required for travel ICU RN jobs?
Most travel ICU RN jobs require recent critical care experience caring for high-acuity patients and independently managing ventilators, vasoactive drips, sedation, and invasive lines. Some units may also look for experience with CRRT, IABP, Impella, ECMO, or other advanced therapies. Requirements vary by ICU type, so facilities typically want your recent experience to closely match the patient population, devices, and level of care on the assignment.
Can I start this Washington assignment on my multistate license?
Yes—Washington is a Nurse Licensure Compact member, so an active multistate RN license covers this assignment. Nurses applying for a Washington license by endorsement get a useful bridge: once every other requirement is complete, the Board may issue a temporary practice permit while the FBI background check is still pending. Our Washington Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Explore Edmonds, WA

Ferries glide constantly past downtown Edmonds, WA, a Puget Sound town north of Seattle whose walkable waterfront core makes it one of the region's most pleasant bases. Travel nurses set up here for work across the north-Seattle corridor, with hiring demand spanning ED, telemetry, and surgical assignments. The cost of housing runs high here but still lands below Seattle proper. The walkable small-town texture is precisely the point. The ferry to Kingston opens the Olympic Peninsula for weekend trips right from town. Beach walks, dive parks, and an arts calendar punch above the town's size.
