What to Expect

Travel Occupational Therapists (OTs) help patients regain independence in daily activities after injury, illness, or disability. They assess patient needs, develop personalized treatment plans, and use therapeutic techniques to improve motor skills, cognitive function, and overall well-being. OTs work in various settings, including hospitals, rehab centers, and schools.

Certifications

Occupational Therapists typically require the following certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) – optional but valuable for hand therapy specialists
  • Specialty Certifications (e.g., Gerontology (BCG), Pediatrics (BCP), or Physical Rehabilitation (BCPR))

Education

Occupational Therapists must earn a Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (MOT or OTD) from an accredited institution. After graduation, they must pass the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam to obtain licensure. Some states require additional certifications or continuing education.
