FAQs – Labor and Delivery Travel Nurse Jobs Near Farmington, CT

What certifications do travel L&D jobs require?
Most travel L&D jobs require Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and a current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) provider card. Many facilities also require an intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring course.
What experience do facilities look for in L&D travel nurses?
Facilities generally want recent labor and delivery experience with fetal monitoring, labor progression, inductions, obstetric emergencies, and higher-risk pregnancies. Experience with magnesium sulfate, preterm labor, hypertensive disorders, and other common L&D scenarios may also be important depending on the unit’s acuity. Travelers should clearly describe the types of patients and deliveries they have managed independently.
How can an L&D nurses responsibilities differ between travel assignments?
The scope of an L&D role can vary significantly by hospital. Some units focus primarily on labor and delivery, while others expect nurses to cover antepartum, postpartum, couplet care, newborn stabilization, or surgical delivery responsibilities. Understanding the areas you may cover can help you compare the assignment with your recent experience and determine whether it is a strong clinical match.

Explore Farmington, CT

A namesake river lines Farmington, CT west of Hartford, a colonial-rooted town whose large hospital campus anchors one of Connecticut's most active medical corridors. Open contracts here run to emergency, telemetry, and surgical-floor positions. Places here run upscale-suburban in town, though the neighboring towns soften the rental math considerably. The Farmington Canal Heritage Trail rolls its paved miles north and south for daily rides. The historic village green keeps eighteenth-century houses and the celebrated Hill-Stead Museum, whose impressionist collection hangs in a country estate. The river itself carries lazy tubing runs and good fly water through the summer months. Downtown Hartford opens about fifteen minutes east, close enough that the capital's market reads as home turf.
