What certifications are required for this ER travel nurse position?
Most travel ER jobs require Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), with Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) often needed if pediatric patients are involved. Many facilities also prefer the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), though it’s not always required. Specific requirements vary by unit—click "I’m Interested" to connect with a professional recruiter who can walk you through the exact certifications needed for this role.
How much ER experience do I need for this travel assignment?

Depending on the facility, experience with triage, trauma, pediatric patients, or high-volume emergency departments may also be preferred. Click “I’m Interested” to connect with a recruiter about assignment-specific requirements.
Is an Illinois license needed for this travel assignment?
Yes—unless you already hold an active Illinois RN license. Illinois is not part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, so multistate authority issued elsewhere doesn’t apply. Apply for licensure by endorsement through IDFPR; eligible applicants can request a temporary endorsement permit to begin working while the permanent application is pending. Our Illinois Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Limestone bluffs carry the painted Piasa Bird above the Mississippi at Alton, IL, a historic river city across from the Missouri confluence where eagles winter by the hundreds. Most contracts across the local market involve emergency department and med-surg floor work for visiting RNs. The Great River Road rolls north beneath the bluffs toward Grafton, one of the Midwest's loveliest drives. Housing costs run gentle across the city, with the hill-district Victorians offering genuine architectural character. Antique blocks and a riverfront amphitheater carry the calendar, and downtown St. Louis is roughly thirty minutes southwest, Arch and all.
