Explore the area! See our local guide further down this page.
  • Contract Length: 15 Weeks
  • Shift: Nights (3x12)
  • Job Number: 885036

Responsibilities

  • Manage critically ill patients requiring continuous hemodynamic monitoring and frequent reassessment
  • Titrate vasoactive, sedation, and other high-alert drips as ordered and per facility protocol
  • Care for mechanically ventilated patients and manage critical care devices, including arterial and central lines
  • Respond to clinical deterioration and participate in codes and rapid responses

Travel ICU Requirements:

  • 2+ years of recent ICU experience.
  • Must hold all required certifications and licenses as mandated by North Carolina and national regulatory bodies.
What certifications do travel ICU jobs require?
Most travel ICU jobs require Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Neuro and stroke units commonly add NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and pediatric or mixed units may ask for PALS. The CCRN credential is preferred by many facilities and required by a few.
Will I float on a travel ICU assignment?
It depends on the facility and the contract. ICU travelers may float to PCU, step-down, ER holds, or other critical care areas, while some hospitals limit floating more narrowly. Float expectations are not always visible in the posting, so confirm the policy before accepting an assignment.
What experience is required for travel ICU RN jobs?
Most travel ICU RN jobs require recent critical care experience caring for high-acuity patients and independently managing ventilators, vasoactive drips, sedation, and invasive lines. Some units may also look for experience with CRRT, IABP, Impella, ECMO, or other advanced therapies. Requirements vary by ICU type, so facilities typically want your recent experience to closely match the patient population, devices, and level of care on the assignment.
Will North Carolina accept my multistate RN license for this assignment?
Yes—North Carolina is a Nurse Licensure Compact state, so an active multistate RN license covers this assignment. Nurses without compact privilege can apply for licensure by endorsement through the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Our North Carolina Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Explore Clyde, NC

In the Pigeon River valley between Asheville and the Great Smoky Mountains, Clyde, NC works as a small Haywood County town where the regional hospital campus next door holds down much of the area's care. Travel contracts here typically cover medical-surgical and emergency work for mountain communities spread across the county. A rental search in Clyde itself is limited; Waynesville's larger rental market sits ten minutes west and serves most travelers. Mountain weather is the commuting variable, with fog in the valleys most mornings and occasional winter ice on the grades. The Blue Ridge Parkway climbs within a half-hour drive, and Smokies trailheads sit close enough that a day off can start on a summit.
