Explore Lakeview, OR

High in the sagebrush country of south-central Oregon, Lakeview, OR sits at the edge of the Great Basin, a long way from any larger city. The local hospital relies on travelers for emergency and inpatient coverage, often the closest care across a vast, thinly settled county. Klamath Falls lies about two hours west on OR-140, with Alturas, California, and Burns the nearest towns in other directions. The drives run long in every direction. Local housing is cheap and easy to arrange, a necessity where the next hospital is hours away. Between the high-desert light and the quiet of the surrounding ranchland, a Lakeview contract suits travelers who want to get well off the beaten path.
