FAQs – ER Travel Nurse Jobs Near Beaufort, SC

What certifications are required for this ER travel job?
Most travel ER jobs require BLS and ACLS. TNCC may be required for trauma care. Pediatric requirements can include PALS, ENPC, or both, depending on whether the facility accepts ENPC in place of PALS. Confirm the required combination before booking a course or renewing credentials.
What recent experience do facilities look for in travel ER nurses?
Facilities typically look for recent emergency department experience caring for a wide range of acuity levels, from lower-acuity patients to unstable patients who may need rapid intervention. Trauma exposure, critical care skills, pediatric experience, and triage experience can all matter depending on the department. The strongest match is usually a recent ER background that reflects the patient volume, acuity, and responsibilities of the assignment.
What types of patients do travel ER nurses typically care for?
Travel ER nurses may care for patients with medical emergencies, injuries, behavioral health needs, cardiac or respiratory conditions, and patients awaiting admission to another unit. Some departments also manage ventilated patients or titratable drips while patients wait for an ICU bed. Patient mix and acuity vary by hospital, so travelers should compare the department’s typical population with their recent experience.
Can I begin orientation before my South Carolina license is issued?
Only with an active multistate RN license or a current South Carolina temporary or permanent license. South Carolina counts orientation—classroom sessions and policy review included—as nursing practice, so your authorization must be in hand before day one, not just before your first shift. Otherwise, apply for licensure by endorsement. Our South Carolina Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.
What type of assignment can a travel nurse expect at Beaufort Memorial?
Beaufort Memorial is a nonprofit regional referral hospital serving South Carolina's Lowcountry with emergency, ICU, cardiac, surgical, maternity, cancer, and rehabilitation services. Travelers may see a broad community-referral case mix in a smaller regional hospital.
What should cardiac and critical-care travelers know about Beaufort Memorial?
The hospital has a 12-bed ICU and an on-site cath lab that performs emergency and elective coronary interventions. ICU and cardiac travelers may care for patients who require close monitoring before and after invasive treatment.

Explore Beaufort, SC

Antebellum mansions line the bluff at Beaufort, SC, one of the Lowcountry's earliest settlements, where Spanish moss and a sailboat-filled bay frame one of the South's most filmed historic districts. The waterfront park swings its famous bench swings out over the Beaufort River every evening. The local rental stock runs fully coastal-priced in the historic district, though Port Royal and Lady's Island ease the math considerably. The hospital in town serves the surrounding sea islands, with travel contracts leaning toward ED and med-surg floor roles for travelers. Hunting Island's climbable lighthouse and wild driftwood beach spread about twenty-five minutes east of downtown. Parris Island's graduations bring families through weekly, with Charleston about seventy minutes north and Savannah about forty-five minutes south, two storied cities sharing one coast.
