FAQs – Labor and Delivery Travel Nurse Jobs Near Pullman, WA

What certifications do travel L&D jobs require?
Most travel L&D jobs require Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and a current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) provider card. Many facilities also require an intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring course.
What experience do facilities look for in L&D travel nurses?
Facilities generally want recent labor and delivery experience with fetal monitoring, labor progression, inductions, obstetric emergencies, and higher-risk pregnancies. Experience with magnesium sulfate, preterm labor, hypertensive disorders, and other common L&D scenarios may also be important depending on the unit’s acuity. Travelers should clearly describe the types of patients and deliveries they have managed independently.
How can an L&D nurses responsibilities differ between travel assignments?
The scope of an L&D role can vary significantly by hospital. Some units focus primarily on labor and delivery, while others expect nurses to cover antepartum, postpartum, couplet care, newborn stabilization, or surgical delivery responsibilities. Understanding the areas you may cover can help you compare the assignment with your recent experience and determine whether it is a strong clinical match.
Can I start this Washington assignment on my multistate license?
Yes—Washington is a Nurse Licensure Compact member, so an active multistate RN license covers this assignment. Nurses applying for a Washington license by endorsement get a useful bridge: once every other requirement is complete, the Board may issue a temporary practice permit while the FBI background check is still pending. For official licensing information, see Washington Nursing License Requirements.

Explore Pullman, WA

Across the Palouse's famous wave-shaped wheat hills rolls Pullman, WA, a college town where Washington State University drives the rhythm and the regional hospital serves the surrounding farm counties. Travel assignments here mix emergency coverage alongside medical-surgical floor work. The housing here follows the student calendar closely, so summers lease easily while August really demands advance planning. Game Saturdays in autumn transform the entire town completely, crimson flags and tailgates everywhere. The Palouse itself photographs like nowhere else in the country, especially from Kamiak Butte's ridge about fifteen minutes north. Moscow, Idaho sits ten minutes east with a second downtown and university, and Spokane runs about seventy-five minutes north for metro weekends.
