Washington ER Jobs: License, Certs, Regions

Can travelers use a compact license in Washington now?
Yes. Washington's a full compact member, so a multistate license authorizes ER work without a separate application. You do need both pieces: a multistate license and a home address in a compact state. One without the other isn't enough, and that's the part people miss. Otherwise you'll apply to Washington by endorsement.
What certifications do Washington ER jobs require?
You'll need BLS and ACLS. PALS if the department treats kids, and Washington designates three pediatric trauma levels separately, so plenty of adult ERs won't ask. TNCC or ENPC is often preferred. The state designates five adult trauma levels, which is more granular than most. A recent year or two in the ER is expected.
Why does ER pay differ across Washington?
The state splits in two, and pay follows. Seattle and the Puget Sound corridor have plenty of nurses nearby. Eastern Washington and the rural regions don't, so a job there can pay more than a Seattle one. Shift and time open matter everywhere. Live weekly pay for each Washington city is ranked in the chart above.
Where's the ER work in Washington?
Seattle, Tacoma, and Spokane anchor most of it, but the state organizes EMS and trauma planning into eight regions, and the ones east of the mountains work differently from the ones west. That split is the most useful filter you have here. Decide which side you want before you start looking at cities.
