FAQs – Labor and Delivery Travel Nurse Jobs Near Thornton, CO

What certifications do travel L&D jobs require?
Most travel L&D jobs require Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and a current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) provider card. Many facilities also require an intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring course.
What experience do facilities look for in L&D travel nurses?
Facilities generally want recent labor and delivery experience with fetal monitoring, labor progression, inductions, obstetric emergencies, and higher-risk pregnancies. Experience with magnesium sulfate, preterm labor, hypertensive disorders, and other common L&D scenarios may also be important depending on the unit’s acuity. Travelers should clearly describe the types of patients and deliveries they have managed independently.
How can an L&D nurses responsibilities differ between travel assignments?
The scope of an L&D role can vary significantly by hospital. Some units focus primarily on labor and delivery, while others expect nurses to cover antepartum, postpartum, couplet care, newborn stabilization, or surgical delivery responsibilities. Understanding the areas you may cover can help you compare the assignment with your recent experience and determine whether it is a strong clinical match.
Will my compact RN license work for this Colorado assignment?
Yes—an active multistate RN license covers this assignment because Colorado is a Nurse Licensure Compact state. For endorsement, know Colorado’s fingerprint rule: a background check from a previous application can’t be reused, because prints must be submitted specifically for the Colorado nursing application. Our Colorado Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Resources for this Labor and Delivery job in Thornton

Explore Thornton, CO

Across Denver's northern tier, Thornton, CO stretches as a planned suburb threaded with trail systems and parks, where travel nurses base for contracts across the metro's northern hospital row. Demand here leans toward labor and delivery plus emergency assignments, with Westminster, Brighton, and Northglenn extending the local map. The trail network connects most neighborhoods to green space without a car. Commutes run the I-25 corridor, predictable in both its flow and its rush-hour crawl. Housing here trends newer than central Denver at clearly gentler prices, which is the standard tradeoff that draws travelers north. Denver's downtown is about twenty minutes south off-peak, and the Rocky Mountain trailheads open within an hour's drive west of the subdivisions.
