FAQs – Travel CT Tech Jobs Near New Haven, CT

What certifications and credentials are required for travel CT Tech jobs?
ARRT (CT) is a common requirement; some employers accept NMTCB (CT). ARRT (CT) requires a supporting credential in radiography, nuclear medicine technology, or radiation therapy. Additional requirements include BLS and a state imaging license or certification.
Is X-Ray experience enough to qualify for a travel CT Tech position?
Usually, facilities want recent hands-on CT experience in addition to a radiography background. Travelers should be prepared to show that they have worked independently in CT and are comfortable with the pace, patient populations, and responsibilities expected in the department. Recent CT experience is especially important for travel roles where orientation may be limited.
Do travel CT Tech jobs require IV and contrast experience?
Many hospital CT assignments include contrast-enhanced imaging and may look for experience with IV starts, power injectors, contrast administration, and contrast-reaction procedures. CT certification alone does not authorize every contrast-related responsibility, so permitted duties can depend on state rules, facility policy, required supervision, and documented competency.
Which Connecticut license covers CT work on a travel assignment?
Connecticut doesn't license CT as a separate modality. For radiography-based CT work, you'll generally need an active Connecticut radiographer license, and the facility may also require ARRT (CT). The national CT credential doesn't replace the state license. Visit Connecticut DPH Practitioner Licensing for current requirements and application steps.
How large is the imaging operation an allied tech would join at Yale New Haven Hospital?
The radiology operation spans roughly a dozen CT scanners and multiple 3T MRIs — including a neonatal MR unit in the NICU and a 3T intraoperative MRI in the neurosurgical OR — with Level I trauma and stroke volume keeping CT and interventional radiology in regular use.
What radiation oncology and cancer allied work runs at Yale New Haven Hospital?
Smilow Cancer Hospital carries radiation therapy, 12 operating rooms, infusion suites, and diagnostic and therapeutic radiology for adults and children — deep ground for radiation therapists, dosimetrists, and oncology-imaging techs.
