FAQs – Telemetry Travel Nurse Jobs Near Jacksonville, FL

What certifications do travel Telemetry jobs require?
Most require BLS and ACLS, and some facilities also ask for a current arrhythmia or basic ECG course certificate. Units that take stroke patients may add NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
Will I be tested on rhythm interpretation for travel Telemetry jobs?
Often, yes. Many facilities require a dysrhythmia or ECG assessment during onboarding. Expect to identify common blocks, atrial fibrillation with RVR, ventricular arrhythmias, paced rhythms, and other urgent changes, then follow the unit's escalation process.
How is Telemetry different from PCU or Med Surg/Tele?
The lines vary by hospital. Telemetry generally centers on continuous cardiac monitoring at or near med-surg acuity, Med Surg/Tele may mix monitored and unmonitored beds, and PCU usually involves higher acuity with more titratable drips or closer observation. Ask what the unit actually manages rather than assuming the title tells the whole story.
What cardiovascular acuity can travel nurses expect at Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside in Jacksonville?
Home to the Chartrand Heart & Vascular Center — Jacksonville's largest cardiovascular and open-heart program, with roughly 20,000 procedures a year — this 528-bed tertiary hospital gives cardiac and critical-care travelers a high-volume environment.
What neuro and stroke care will travel nurses find at Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside?
A Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center pairs with the St. Vincent's Spine & Brain Institute for neurosurgery and neurology, plus Joint Commission–certified spine surgery.
What maternity and cancer care does St. Vincent's Riverside offer travel nurses?
Its Family Birth Place carries a Leapfrog "A" patient-safety grade, alongside an NAPBC-accredited breast program and a Mayo Clinic cancer partnership.

Explore Jacksonville, FL

Across an enormous footprint on Florida's northeast coast, Jacksonville, FL spreads its hospital systems widely, which means the assignment's campus location should drive every housing decision. A traveler working the south side and living at the beaches faces a long daily haul; matched correctly, commutes stay short. Emergency departments and cardiac units generate much of the travel demand across the metro. Orange Park extends options southwest. Atlantic Beach offers coastal living within reach of several campuses east of the river. The city's park system threads green space through nearly every neighborhood, and St. Augustine's historic district sits forty-five minutes south, an easy recurring day trip that most RNs on contract here make more than once before the assignment wraps up.
