FAQs – ER Travel Nurse Jobs Near Augusta, GA

What certifications are required for this ER travel job?
Most travel ER jobs require BLS and ACLS. TNCC may be required for trauma care. Pediatric requirements can include PALS, ENPC, or both, depending on whether the facility accepts ENPC in place of PALS. Confirm the required combination before booking a course or renewing credentials.
What recent experience do facilities look for in travel ER nurses?
Facilities typically look for recent emergency department experience caring for a wide range of acuity levels, from lower-acuity patients to unstable patients who may need rapid intervention. Trauma exposure, critical care skills, pediatric experience, and triage experience can all matter depending on the department. The strongest match is usually a recent ER background that reflects the patient volume, acuity, and responsibilities of the assignment.
What types of patients do travel ER nurses typically care for?
Travel ER nurses may care for patients with medical emergencies, injuries, behavioral health needs, cardiac or respiratory conditions, and patients awaiting admission to another unit. Some departments also manage ventilated patients or titratable drips while patients wait for an ICU bed. Patient mix and acuity vary by hospital, so travelers should compare the department’s typical population with their recent experience.
Is a separate Georgia license required for this travel assignment?
No—Georgia honors active multistate RN licenses through the Nurse Licensure Compact. For licensure by endorsement, register with GAPS/Idemia when you submit the application, then complete fingerprinting only after the Board’s emailed instructions arrive. Our Georgia Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.
What makes Doctors Hospital of Augusta a distinctive assignment for travel nurses?
The hospital combines Level II trauma and general acute care with the Joseph M. Still Burn Center, one of its defining specialty programs. Travelers may see serious injuries, burn patients, surgical cases, cardiac patients, and high-risk maternity populations.
What should burn and critical-care nurses know about Doctors Hospital of Augusta?
The burn center treats adults and children and includes dedicated intensive-care beds and operating rooms for thermal, chemical, electrical, and inhalation injuries. Burn, ICU, OR, and wound-care travelers may follow patients through acute stabilization, surgery, and recovery.
