FAQs – ER Travel Nurse Jobs Near Burlington, MA

What certifications are required for this ER travel job?
Most travel ER jobs require BLS and ACLS. TNCC may be required for trauma care. Pediatric requirements can include PALS, ENPC, or both, depending on whether the facility accepts ENPC in place of PALS. Confirm the required combination before booking a course or renewing credentials.
What recent experience do facilities look for in travel ER nurses?
Facilities typically look for recent emergency department experience caring for a wide range of acuity levels, from lower-acuity patients to unstable patients who may need rapid intervention. Trauma exposure, critical care skills, pediatric experience, and triage experience can all matter depending on the department. The strongest match is usually a recent ER background that reflects the patient volume, acuity, and responsibilities of the assignment.
What types of patients do travel ER nurses typically care for?
Travel ER nurses may care for patients with medical emergencies, injuries, behavioral health needs, cardiac or respiratory conditions, and patients awaiting admission to another unit. Some departments also manage ventilated patients or titratable drips while patients wait for an ICU bed. Patient mix and acuity vary by hospital, so travelers should compare the department’s typical population with their recent experience.
Is my compact license valid for this Massachusetts travel assignment?
Not yet. Massachusetts enacted the Nurse Licensure Compact, but implementation isn’t complete, so multistate privileges aren’t currently honored. Unless you hold an active Massachusetts RN license, apply by reciprocity; note that Massachusetts doesn’t issue temporary nursing licenses, so there’s no bridge option. Our Massachusetts Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.
What should travel nurses expect from an assignment at Lahey Clinic?
Lahey Clinic is a Magnet academic hospital with Level I adult trauma, Comprehensive Stroke Center care, transplant, critical care, and complex surgery. Travelers may see high-acuity referral patients within a specialty-focused hospital environment.
How specialized are the ICU settings at Lahey Clinic?
The hospital has medical, surgical, neurological, and coronary intensive-care units. ICU travelers may care for patients with sepsis, multiorgan failure, major trauma, neurological emergencies, or postoperative transplant needs.

The Route 128 technology corridor northwest of Boston anchors on Burlington, MA, a suburban hub whose hospital campus and office parks keep the local economy humming. The town works well as a base for contracts across the metro's whole northern arc, with hiring spanning emergency, telemetry, and surgical unit roles. The rents run high by national standards, yet still undercut Boston and Cambridge meaningfully for traveling clinicians. The mall district handles errands and evenings at scale, with deep restaurant rows lining the surrounding commercial corridors in every direction.
