FAQs – Labor and Delivery Travel Nurse Jobs Near Lake St Louis, MO

What certifications do travel L&D jobs require?
Most travel L&D jobs require Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and a current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) provider card. Many facilities also require an intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring course.
What experience do facilities look for in L&D travel nurses?
Facilities generally want recent labor and delivery experience with fetal monitoring, labor progression, inductions, obstetric emergencies, and higher-risk pregnancies. Experience with magnesium sulfate, preterm labor, hypertensive disorders, and other common L&D scenarios may also be important depending on the unit’s acuity. Travelers should clearly describe the types of patients and deliveries they have managed independently.
How can an L&D nurses responsibilities differ between travel assignments?
The scope of an L&D role can vary significantly by hospital. Some units focus primarily on labor and delivery, while others expect nurses to cover antepartum, postpartum, couplet care, newborn stabilization, or surgical delivery responsibilities. Understanding the areas you may cover can help you compare the assignment with your recent experience and determine whether it is a strong clinical match.
Is a Missouri license necessary for this travel assignment?
No—Missouri belongs to the Nurse Licensure Compact, so an active multistate RN license covers this assignment. Applying by endorsement instead? Sequence and accuracy matter: apply through MOPRO before registering for fingerprints, and make sure your name, birth date, and Social Security number match across both systems, or the fingerprint step may have to be repeated. Our Missouri Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Forest Park gives St. Louis‘ medical district a distinctive neighbor: a large public landscape with gardens and art collections. Missouri‘s hospital nursing communities have that kind of variety beyond their clinical settings. St. Louis combines major referral care with established urban neighborhoods, while Kansas City pairs its hospital districts with jazz venues and barbecue traditions. The Kansas City metro crosses the state line, so its Missouri communities form only part of the wider city experience. Regional hospitals elsewhere serve smaller cities and surrounding rural areas. For travel nurses drawn to urban life, the two large metros offer plenty to revisit, whether that’s a favorite collection in St. Louis or a music venue in Kansas City.
