FAQs – Labor and Delivery Travel Nurse Jobs Near Sewell, NJ

What certifications do travel L&D jobs require?
Most travel L&D jobs require Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and a current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) provider card. Many facilities also require an intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring course.
What experience do facilities look for in L&D travel nurses?
Facilities generally want recent labor and delivery experience with fetal monitoring, labor progression, inductions, obstetric emergencies, and higher-risk pregnancies. Experience with magnesium sulfate, preterm labor, hypertensive disorders, and other common L&D scenarios may also be important depending on the unit’s acuity. Travelers should clearly describe the types of patients and deliveries they have managed independently.
How can an L&D nurses responsibilities differ between travel assignments?
The scope of an L&D role can vary significantly by hospital. Some units focus primarily on labor and delivery, while others expect nurses to cover antepartum, postpartum, couplet care, newborn stabilization, or surgical delivery responsibilities. Understanding the areas you may cover can help you compare the assignment with your recent experience and determine whether it is a strong clinical match.
How does licensing work for this New Jersey travel assignment?
With an active multistate RN license, no New Jersey application is needed. Nurses seeking their first New Jersey license without compact privilege generally use the combined RN/LPN Candidate application, with state and federal fingerprinting completed through the IdentoGO service code the Board provides. Our New Jersey Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Explore Sewell, NJ

New Jersey‘s hospital communities span northeastern cities, the central part of the state, and separate southern regions. For travel nurses, that variety comes with substantial cultural attractions within New Jersey itself. Newark has museums and performing arts, while Princeton’s university setting brings historic architecture and an art museum. Along the shore, boardwalk towns have a seasonal character quite different from inland communities. The Skylands region adds wooded hills and lakes in the northwest. A longer nursing stay can reveal how much changes between these places, from the food and streets of an urban neighborhood to a university-town afternoon. New Jersey’s own communities provide ample reasons to explore, including well beyond the familiar summer beach season.
