FAQs – ICU Travel Nurse Jobs Near Cape Coral, FL

What certifications do travel ICU jobs require?
Most travel ICU jobs require Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Neuro and stroke units commonly add NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and pediatric or mixed units may ask for PALS. The CCRN credential is preferred by many facilities and required by a few.
Will I float on a travel ICU assignment?
It depends on the facility and the contract. ICU travelers may float to PCU, step-down, ER holds, or other critical care areas, while some hospitals limit floating more narrowly. Float expectations are not always visible in the posting, so confirm the policy before accepting an assignment.
What experience is required for travel ICU RN jobs?
Most travel ICU RN jobs require recent critical care experience caring for high-acuity patients and independently managing ventilators, vasoactive drips, sedation, and invasive lines. Some units may also look for experience with CRRT, IABP, Impella, ECMO, or other advanced therapies. Requirements vary by ICU type, so facilities typically want your recent experience to closely match the patient population, devices, and level of care on the assignment.
What license do I need for this Florida travel assignment?
An active multistate RN license covers this assignment—Florida is a Nurse Licensure Compact state. Nurses who need a Florida license may qualify for the MOBILE endorsement pathway, which requires at least two years of active practice during the four years immediately before applying, plus background screening. Our Florida Nursing License Guide has current fees, timelines, and step-by-step instructions.

Resources for this ICU job in Cape Coral

Explore Cape Coral, FL

Canals thread Cape Coral, FL by the hundreds of miles, a boater's grid city across the river from Fort Myers whose relentless population boom keeps southwest Florida's healthcare hiring demand climbing year after year. Travel RNs here pick up emergency, telemetry, and cardiac roles, deepened by the region's retiree demographics. The rental stock trends newer at prices well below the barrier islands, with the canal-front rentals a popular option for traveling RNs. Gulf access from a backyard dock defines the local lifestyle for an enormous share of residents. Burrowing owls nest across the city's vacant lots each spring, an oddity. The drive to Fort Myers runs about twenty minutes east, the beaches about forty southwest. Winter season sets the calendar's working rhythm.
